Nathan Hui-Yi creates worlds.

Based in the Adelaide Hills, the Asian-Australian rapper, producer, and multi-instrumentalist is making waves as a true innovator, establishing himself as one of the country's most exciting and original emerging voices.

His music is where lush, cinematic soundscapes collide with raw hip-hop energy; where the warmth of lo-fi vinyl hiss and the swing of Dilla-inspired drums can coexist with the grandeur of orchestral strings and the tension of dissonant jazz. Hui-Yi's intricate bars are unflinchingly honest explorations, ranging from raw meditations on life and death in "goodbye grandpa", to confessionals about love and lust in the age of artificial intelligence on "NO REGRETS"

Hui-Yi made his debut splash in the underground hip-hop scene with “DIE WITH A BUZZ”, a collaborative hip-hop album with Detroit rapper "Sam Be Yourself" from Netflix's "Rhythm + Flow" rap show. An independent release to cassette tape and streaming, the album has achieved over 400k streams and scored Spotify editorial placements on "Beats n' Bars" and "the hybrid".

2024 saw the release of “FOR THE LAST TIME”, a deeply intimate, self-produced album exploring themes of love and defiance to a cinematic jazz-laced soundtrack. With a raw, singular artistic vision paired with a DIY-edge, the record racked up over 200k streams in the six months since release and was hailed by industry legend Kuya James as "one of the best releases I've heard this year."

Riding a wave of momentum, Hui-Yi has continued an ongoing run of monthly new tracks culminating in an immersive, ethereal 5-track EP "STAND AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD" in June 2025.

Hui-Yi’s work has not gone unnoticed; he was a winner of the Triple J x NIDA Competition. selected for the first TikTok Songhubs in Australia and has been featured at music festivals such as WOMADelaide and OzAsia.
