Lyrics:
When I reminisce over you, my eyes glaze
Thought about all those nights that we stayed up late
As I try to escape, I'm afraid, I relate
To my Pops, demonstrate, when his hair got gray
Try to think of your face, but the memories fade
Used to chill at the spot, that was our secret place
Body so smooth like a jade, felt so amazing
Thought I was aloof til you caught me gazing
Wait, that was you, guess my memory hazy
Endless summer days, pray to God, "don't change it"
Heart skipped a beat, so I found a new cadence
Just two kids, but to me you were famous
Just playing, just two nerds spending rainy days gaming
Summer days outside painting
Popping champagne, wondering where the day went
When the sun shines bright, gotta make hay
If you're not gonna jump, better make way
A lotta brothers like to boast that they self made
But without you, I'd be nothing but a state slave
If you're not gonna jump, better make way
A lotta brothers like to boast that they self made
But without you, I'd be nothing but a state slave
Years pass, and I think of long nights
Lying by your side under starlight but something ain't right
You told me that you didn't have the fight
To go against the sickness that was growing inside
You cried, I cried, we stare into fire
Couldn't find the words, for what would transpire
Looked to the preacher man, told me look higher
Get on my knees and I scream 'oh why her'
My eyes go teary, the mind grows weary
Autumn days end and you still don't hear me
Dark night of the soul, God it's so cold
Text like reflex, forget that you're gone
Message not delivered, feels like a blade
Now it's been eight years to the day (since we locked gaze)
I'll stay in the shade, dream of summer days
That's why I make art cos that's what will save
My life
Lying by your side under starlight but something ain't right
You told me that you didn't have the fight
To go against the sickness that was growing inside
You cried, I cried, we stare into fire
Couldn't find the words, for what would transpire
Looked to the preacher man, told me look higher
Get on my knees and I scream 'oh why her'
My eyes go teary, the mind grows weary
Autumn days end and you still don't hear me
Dark night of the soul, God it's so cold
